SK STUDIO OUT + ABOUT | GETTING BACK INTO THE FLOW
I feel that the last few years have definitely been an alternative universe of sorts as we navigate coming off the thick of a pandemic and emerging in the ways that we feel comfortable to do so. It’s definitely been a journey and I have found myself thinking of doing the most mundane projects and thinking about how I can do them. Yesterday, Paul and I went to our first event since the pandemic that had 30 people to toast the book launch of Art of Tea founder, Steve Schwartz who released Art of Tea: A Journey of Ritual, Discovery, and Impact. In the beginning of the pandemic, I interviewed him for Athleisure Mag (AUG ISSUE #56 2020) to talk about creating this company, his relationship with tea and projects he was working with at that time. As a life long tea drinker, it was amazing to talk with him as he knows his stuff and loved also sharing that on Athleisure Kitchen, the podcast I Executive Produce and host.
I was really touched that Steve acknowledged that for many of us in the room, it was our first event since the pandemic and that we put our nerves aside and went forward! He also talked about his background and it was great to enjoy one of my favorite places, La Mercerie for a series of passed appetizers, tea infused cocktails, tea blending and phenomenal desserts. After getting my book signed, I realized that we were there a little over an hour as going in, I thought that I would just be there for about half an hour!
It was a great event to go to to dip my toe back into the flow! When I think about how previously I’d do 10-15 events in a day, live in showrooms and more, I know that it will be a process and it will have to be taken day by day. But advancement starts with tiny steps and it was great to do on a Spring day in NY!
